Fukuoka is the capital city of the Fukuoka Prefecture as well as being the biggest city on the island of Kyushu.

Some things you can do here in the castle are exploring many of the original castle gates, turrets as well as towers inside the large castle grounds. There is also an unique guest house that you can visit in which they were used for visiting diplomats.

The best time to visit this area will be the first week of April where it will be host to the Fukuoka Castle Sakura Festival in where you are able to see a bunch of cherry blossoms all around the castle.

Yusentei Park is a nice little park that use to be the home of the 6th lord of Fukuoka.

There are some interesting things to see here at the shrine which would include a stone anchor that has been used by Mongolian ships as well as a statue of Nichiren.

Aside from that, this place is also home to two very popular festivals. The Tamaseseri Festival which is held on January 3rd, and the Hojoya Festival which lasts from September 12 through the 18th.

Visit Marine World Uminonakamichi

One of the best ways to learn about the amazing marine life surrounding the region is to visit the Marine World Uminonakamichi.

This place contains about 70 different tanks all filled with over 20,000 creatures. You can also find over 100 sharks here swimming around in their huge panoramic tank. Some other things you might find here are a large variety of marine mammals like sea lions, otters as well as seals. At certain times of the day, they even do animal shows on site at their Marine Theater that includes some dolphins playing around as well as a sea lion show.

Check Out Dazaifu Tenman-gu

Dazaifu Tenman-gu is another well known and popular shrine. It is also the biggest one in the city spanning at about 3,000 acres.

The most important structure here in this shrine is the Honden (Main Shrine) which originated as far back as 905 AD. It has been replaced many times throughout its life with the current structure dating back to 1591.

It also houses many other smaller shrines as well as a treasury where they store most of the important relics.
