One of the most common questions that parents get when they have just brought to life a new baby child is “Can they still travel with a baby?”.
Now obviously the answer to that question is a yes, but it makes you wonder if you should.
After all there are many different reasons as to why you shouldn’t travel. From things like it can be to noisy on the plane, too much packing, too dangerous etc.. all of which you don’t really need to be worried about. In fact a wrote a whole post just about this topic.
There is nothing wrong with bringing a baby on your vacation trip. In fact, it’s probably one of the best things that you can do.
It helps create memories for all of you that will last a life time. Even though the baby might not remember all of the things you did, at least you can have pictures of what you did to remind you of their younger days.
Also it’s not like you are traveling to some third world country where there are barely any supplies or medical facilities. Most of the world nowadays is actually pretty advanced. In almost any country you go to, you can find supplies for babies and also good hospitals that can provide care for your babies.
Also traveling with a baby can be pretty enjoyable. Now is it difficult? Yes, it can be difficult at times. There is more work that you will have to do other than throwing away diapers or feeding the baby.
Things such as carrying the baby around, carrying the baby supplies, have baby food ready so you can feed your baby, pushing on a stroller etc.. there are a list of things that you will have to do when you bring your baby around. Which is why if you are planning to bring your baby on a trip, you have to plan around your baby.
You can’t do as much things as you are use to because you need to put time aside to take care of your baby. Not only that, but by planning too many things in a day can really exhaust you.
Which is why you have to be prepared.
So I listed a few simple tips that can definitely help you if you are wanting to travel around with your baby.
Babies need sleep
Babies after all spend most of their time sleeping. Which means you need to go out and find a place that is secure and quiet for your baby to sleep. Places like hostels won’t cut it as they might be too noisy for your baby or it might disturb other travelers who are also staying there.
So find someplace that is isolated and not too noisy like a hotel or something to stay at.
Breastfeeding your baby
One of the best and easiest foods for a baby is a simple breast milk from the mother. It eliminates the need for carrying around bottles, formula, equipment, or any other items that you might need to use to feed. Breastfeeding is great as it is simple to do and also is able to provide your baby with many important antibodies that can protect him against illnesses when you are away on a trip.
Bring a collapsible stroller
A stroller is an essential piece of equipment that you need to bring with you everywhere if you have a baby. It is so good that it has many different functions. You can use it as a bed, chair, and even an item carrier.
Now depending on what kind of traveling you will be doing, you could get a light weight stroller or even an all-terrain stroller etc..But most importantly, you want a stroller that is comfortable and easy to push and can fold up easily.
Bring a baby carrier
A baby carrier or a sling is an important piece of equipment for all moms. It is very useful as it can be used as a nursing cover, changing pad, or blanket. They also don’t take up too much room when you are storing them. Making them the best piece of equipment that you can bring.
If you are going to be traveling with a baby, then you will need baby wipes. And I mean LOTS of them. Wipes are your best friend as they can clean a variety of different things.
Things like sticky hands, dirty faces, spit cleaner, or any other dirty things can all be cleaned and taken cared of with these wipes. They can also be used as toilet paper, although you shouldn’t flush them.
Having wipes can make your life a lot easier as you won’t have any more unbearable hassles.
Plan your day lightly
One of the things that you have to remember is that you need to plan out your day lightly. As in, don’t schedule in too many activities for all in one day.
The reason for this is because you are already spending much of your time taking care of your baby. So that doesn’t leave you with much time to do other things. So if you have a ton of places to go or activities to do, you might find yourself overdoing things and can get stressed out or tired. That wouldn’t sound like a fun vacation for anybody.
Which is why it is important to schedule your day lightly so that you will have time to take care of your baby and also have time to do some leisurely activities.
Overall, traveling with a baby isn’t hard.
Sure there are some difficulties around it, but that shouldn’t mean you can’t travel anymore until they are grown up.
All you have to do is do some research and be prepared.
So hopefully these tips can help you and your baby have an even more enjoyable trip.
